FEMA Higher Education Program: HBCU Engagement Meeting
The HiEd mission is to engage academia, including faculty and students, emergency management professional organizations, and practitioners to work together to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
To further this mission, FEMA’s HiEd Program conducted an engagement meeting with executives representing FEMA, DHS, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) September 15-16, 2021 in Atlanta, GA. Day one was hosted by FEMA Region 4 and Day two was hosted by Clark Atlanta University. Topics of discussion included efforts to establish and sustain emergency management programs at HBCUs, potential FEMA and DHS resources, and a process for continued engagement.
