The Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) offers non-credit, self-study courses online. The program serves an important role in the overall mission of CHDS: to shape the future of the study and practice of homeland defense and security through education. This program is designed for professionals and students who wish to enhance their understanding of homeland defense and security and want the flexibility of self-paced instruction. NPS does not provide graduate credit for the courses; however, participants are encouraged to check with their professional associations regarding continuing education units/credits. There is no cost to participate in these courses.
Access is granted to U.S. citizens who are local, tribal, state and federal U.S. government officials; members of the U.S. military; corporate homeland security managers or contractors; homeland security researchers or educators; or students currently enrolled in homeland defense and security degree programs.
