ABOUT
I grew up in Concord, CA, to a first-generation Mexican-American family. We didn’t have much growing up, and from my early childhood I recognized where I fit in the socioeconomic hierarchy of America. I was determined to make it in life and make a name for myself. Not only did I want to make myself proud, but most of all I wanted to show my parents that their struggles in life were for something – specifically to give me the opportunities they never had.
Fast forward to 2023, and I am now a college graduate with a degree in Business Information Systems. My first internship took place at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories working as a computing intern. This is where my love for data visualization started to manifest into report and dashboard building. After joining CHDS, I had opportunities to teach intro courses on infographics and data visualization. I consider myself a jack of all trades, as I often use my data analysis skills to assist in other various tasks around CHDS.
My parents now have my college diploma proudly hanging in their modest apartment. Little do they know, I am just getting started!
