ABOUT
Chief Christian Tubbs began his career in the fire service in 1978, serving primarily with the Mercer Island Fire Department, WA, and most recently with the Southern Marin Fire District, CA. He also spent nineteen years with the Washington State Urban Search and Rescue Team (WATF-1). During his time with WATF-1 he deployed to the Oklahoma City Bombing and Hurricane Katrina.
Chief Tubbs currently serves as the Past-President and E-Board Member of CalChiefs, serves on the IAFC Technology Council, and is a Principal Member on the NFPA 950 & 951 committees. Chief Tubbs also previously served with the National Information Sharing Consortium as an E-Board Director and Treasurer, the Department of Homeland Security’s Incident Management Information Sharing Committee (IMIS-SC), the Department of Homeland Security’s Virtual Social Media Working Group (VSMWG), and the Board of Directors of the Homeland Security Information Network Advisory Committee (HSIN).
Chief Tubbs has a Certificate of Completion from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program and has Certificates in Public Leadership and Public Policy from Harvard. He holds a Master of Arts Degree from the Naval Post Graduate School / Center for Homeland Defense and Security, a Master of Science Degree in Executive Leadership with an Emphasis in Disaster Preparedness (President’s List) from Grand Canyon University, is a Graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program, is an Accredited Chief Fire Officer through CPSE, and is a Certified California Fire Chief through CALFire’s Office of the State Fire Marshal.
