Public Health: Surveillance and Intelligence

This self-study course examines public health surveillance within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and examines how surveillance works in a public/private health care system.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of these five modules, the self-study participant should understand the critical role public health epidemiology plays in the governmental response to infectious disease outbreaks, epidemics, and pandemics. The course should also convey a basic knowledge of specific disease infection rates (R) and why the R controls—or should control—the public health policy response.
