PrepTalks: Harnessing the Power of Disaster Insurance
Dr. Carolyn Kousky, Executive Director of the Wharton Risk Management and Decision Processes Center at the University of Pennsylvania, demonstrates the essential role of insurance in disaster recovery. She explains why not enough people have insurance coverage, and offers suggestions for how the public and private sectors can work together to overcome challenges to increasing insurance coverage across America.
Through Dr. Kousky’s research, she has examined multiple aspects of disaster insurance markets, the National Flood Insurance Program, federal disaster aid, and policy responses to potential changes in extreme events with climate change.
