Creating DOMESTIPOL: Increasing National Resilience by Reflecting on the NYPD Counterterrorism Model

Gus Rodriguez discusses the challenges of information sharing between police departments in the 50 largest cities in the U.S., advocating a model similar to INTERPOL, but on an inter-state level, called DOMESTIPOL. Conducting his research through largely open-source information, Rodriguez advocates an increased emphasis on “horizontal” communication—between different departments around the country—in addition to “vertical” communication—between local, state and federal levels.
