NPS-CHDS master’s alumni Kristin Wyckoff (MA 1401/1402) and Wayne Dumais (MA 1701/1702), both from the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate, presented at the 2018 International Test and Evaluation Symposium on December 11-13 in Oxnard, CA.
Kristin is serving as the Science and Technology liaison in Canada and presented an overview of DHS Science and Technology to the international audience highlighting capabilities available to the homeland security enterprise in a panel titled “Testing for Homeland Security.” These capabilities include a network of national labs and partnerships with academia and industry to address priority research and development needs.
Wayne spoke to the symposium about the emerging threats and complexities associated with testing tunnel detection technologies. “Science and Technology is doing a lot of great things for the homeland security enterprise and this is a chance to share some of those efforts,” Dumais said. Wayne also served as a guest lecturer with the University of Memphis in hosting a workshop focused on test and evaluation and the challenges faced by government programs implementing agile software development methodologies titled “Test and Evaluation of Emerging Threats in Complex Environments.”
