Emergence applications are now being accepted with a May 1 deadline for admittance to the next cohort.
Please note: All DHS components require their employees to apply through their training and education department before submitting an official application on the website. Here is a list of the points of contact for each component.
If you are reapplying or completing your application, you will notice CHDS has moved to a new application system. You must open a new application and upload your updated materials.
1. Your current contact information and a resume.
2. A short essay (2-3 pages double-spaced) that includes the following: a) a specific opportunity for homeland security/public safety change within your organization (i.e. a problem or need); b) your idea for achieving the change (i.e. solving the problem); and c) 1 or 2 possible challenges/barriers to achieving the change.
3. A creative submission, created using whatever simple medium you wish – e.g. written, audio recorded, video, PowerPoint, art, etc. – to show us something that is important to who you are and why you are a good candidate for the program.
4. A letter of recommendation from a supervisor or organizational leader.
