CHDS Congratulates Seventh Graduating Class

On Friday, September 21, the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security MA Program held commencement exercises for 27 federal, state, and local homeland security officials. This marks the seventh commencement ceremony of the program that to date has produced one hundred and eighty graduates from around the country.

"These exceptional professionals will join an ever growing network of homeland security officials who are shaping the nation’s homeland security system." said the Center’s Director, Glen Woodbury. The program requires participants to complete a thesis that proposes solutions to current homeland security policy and strategy challenges in their jurisdiction. "This class has already begun to make a significant impact back at home, and at the national level. We expect great things from them," said Ted Lewis, CHDS Executive Director.

The NPS homeland security graduate program is offered at no cost to DHS, state, and local officials who hold decision-making positions in disciplines critical to our nation’s homeland security. Since 2003, the Center has developed and delivered a cadre of graduate education programs and resources which have been shared with other academic institutions around the country to facilitate the emerging discipline of homeland security and a national network of related academic programs.
