image Albeit time consuming and challenging, the 18 months I spent at the Naval Post Graduate School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security, was an extremely rewarding experience. The quality of education as well as the exposure to national leaders in homeland security, transformed my ability to think comprehensively about the emerging challenges of protecting our homeland. The citizens of this great nation expect those of us who have been chosen to lead our agencies to be competent and well prepared to deal with the challenges of both today and tomorrow. There is no institution that has the ability to prepare us more than CHDS. The officers and citizens who I have been given the privilege of serving deserve a leader who is willing to make sacrifices and to become better prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.
