Ted Lewis, CHDS Executive Director and NPS Professor of Computer Science, has been chosen as the Highly Commended Award Winner at the 2009 Literati Network Awards for Excellence. His article, “A general defender-attacker risk model for networks,” was “one of the most impressive pieces of work the [Literati’s Editorial] team has seen throughout 2008.” His paper, published in The Journal of Risk Finance, reports the work of his recent Ph.D. student, Waleed Al-Mannai, a Colonel in the Bahrain Air Force and an NPS Outstanding Foreign Officer. The award winning papers are chosen following consultation amongst the journal’s editorial team, many of whom are eminent academics or managers. “It is an honor to receive this award and recognition. It represents the long hours and effort I gave that would have not been accomplished without the true guidance and dedication of Dr. Ted Lewis,” said Dr. Al-Mannai. His rich experience in the area of critical infrastructure protection had a major role in receiving the award and recognition for this research.” “I’m honored to have received this award. It’s represents the culmination of the months of research Dr. Waleed Al-Mannai and I put in during his time here at the Naval Postgraduate School. I was thoroughly impressed with Dr. Al-Mannai’s insights and innovation into risk models for networks, and he truly deserves the recognition and accolades for his work,” said Lewis.
