Details and Examples of User Information Collected

Automatic Log Information

When you visit the CHDS website, the server automatically records some information provided by your browser. This information is collected in aggregate and is not identified by or related to individual account names. Data collected is used to improve CHDS technologies and services and consists of:

• The name of the domain from which users access the web;
• The Internet Protocol (IP) address of a user's computer;
• The date and time users access the site, and the length of each session;
• The pages visited during a session;
• The URL of the web site that referred a user to CHDS; and
• Characteristics of user system configuration including browser type, operating system, monitor resolution, and connection speed.

Personal Information

CHDS is a password-protected website. From individual account holders, CHDS collects personal contact information, volunteered by the user, to 1) confirm that the user meets the conditions necessary to be granted access, 2) maintain the account, 3) notify the user of changes to the account or service, 4) determine eligibility of participation in CHDS educational programs, 5) evaluate the effectiveness of programs, program content, and technology. Data submitted by the user when applying to participate in a CHDS program may be shared with external NPS or DHS parties in order to evaluate eligibility to participate. If accepted into a program, participation may be tracked. Requests for information or assistance (as emails that may include the name and email address of that user) may be emailed to staff outside NPS or CHDS in order to provide the best assistance possible. If you email us with a question or comment, information you provide in that email will be used by CHDS staff for the purposes of answering your question and improving CHDS service.
